Badiee Pooshal Gohar Saffron – 1.5gSaffron — acclaimed as the most expensive, aromatic, and celebrated spice in the world — holds a premium place in fine cuisine, luxury cosmetics, and wellness traditions.
Iran, known as the birthplace of saffron, produces over 99% of the global supply, making it the largest exporter worldwide, with China as its primary importer.
Its unique fragrance and refined flavor stem from Safranal, while its lustrous golden hue derives from Crocin.
To authenticate its purity and detect adulteration, advanced scientific methods such as mass spectrometry and high‑performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) are applied.
Key Components of Saffron
| Component | Function / Description |
|---|---|

Botanical Profile
The saffron plant (Crocus sativus) is a small perennial herb growing 10–30 cm tall. From its bulb emerge slender leaves and a flowering stem, bearing 1–3 blossoms.
Each flower carries six violet petals (sometimes pink or purple), three yellow stamens, and a pistil tipped with a three-branched red‑orange stigma.
The usable portion is the dried stigmas and style tip, valued for their distinguished aroma, mild bitterness, and brilliant color.
Pooshal Saffron (Thread Saffron)
Pooshal Saffron is graded by retaining 1 to 3 mm of the style attached to the stigmas during processing.
This feature lowers the risk of adulteration and increases consumer trust. Its coloring strength exceeds Dasteh (Bunch) saffron but remains slightly below the quality of Sargol saffron.
Appearance characteristics:
- Three stigma branches remain joined together
- Quality ranking between Dasteh and Sargol grades
- White style visible at the base; color is not entirely uniform red
- Coloring strength typically ranges between 170–200 units, depending on quality
Types of Pooshal Saffron
- Standard Pooshal – Normal thread thickness with average style length
- Pooshal Ghollamdaar (Long-Stem Pooshal) – Thick, smooth stigmas with minimal style and no curling
